Fireline Paramedic - Wildland Support

We are seeking knowledgeable, hardworking Paramedics to join our team supporting firefighters and support crews out on wildfires! You will work on 4x4 ambulances, 4x4 mobile treatment centers, UTVs, and mobile medical units (clinics) assessing injuries and administering emergency medical care.

Compensation:

  • Earn $35.23 - $38.64 per hour (16 hour days), which equates to $775.06-$1,081.92 per day (average over 7 days)

  • 401(k) employer contribution match, 100% up to 3% and 50% match over 3% up to 5%; once qualified

Responsibilities:

  • Transport injured or sick individuals from the fireline to fire camp or medical facilities

  • Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures

  • Administer prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency, or in specially equipped vehicle

  • Knowledge of pathophysiology and related disease processes of the acute patient

  • Care for your equipment and vehicle by completing daily, weekly and monthly checks, and report issues promptly

  • Communicate and develop interpersonal relationships with your medical unit leaders and other interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Qualifications:

  • Ambulance and EMS experience preferred

  • Wilderness medicine experience preferred

  • Function independently and comfortably in the wilderness setting

  • Self-motivated to learn about the ins and outs of the fire industry

  • Able to stay calm in stressful situations and call-in multiple resources as needed

  • Able to stay organized and follow a chain of command (ICS)

  • Trustworthy and forthcoming

  • Able to work 14-21 days in a row

  • Able to camp out and sleep in a tent

Requirements before hire:

  • California Paramedic License with Sierra-Sacramento Valley Accreditation by May 1, 2026

  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications by May 1, 2026

  • Ambulance Drivers Certification (if CA driver’s license) and a Clean Driving Record

  • Attend our Fireline EMS Conference in April 2026 (invites are sent after first interview)

  • Incident Safety Awareness for the Hired Vendor Class (available in-house at our Fireline EMS Conference)

  • RT-130 | Wildland Fire Safety Annual Conference (available in-house at our Fireline EMS Conference)

  • S-270 - Basic Air Ops (available in-house at our Fireline EMS Conference)

  • NWCG Work Capacity Test at the arduous level: 3 mile walk under 45 minutes while carrying a 45 pound pack (available in-house at our Fireline EMS Conference)

  • S-130 - Firefighter Training (online)

  • L-180 Human Factors in Wildland Fire Service (online)

  • S-190 - Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (online)

  • ICS - 100 | Introduction to the Incident Command System (online)

  • ICS - 200 | Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (online)

  • ICS - 700 | An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (online)

  • ICS - 800 | An Introduction to National Response Framework (online)
